An Article About the Benefits of Red Clover

Do you believe that a four-leaf clover brings you luck? Well, to be honest, I'm not really interested if you do believe that it brings you luck but… I am pretty sure that another plant named red clover will not just bring you luck but will bring you sure health.

Red clover is a flowering plant that belongs to the pea family. It is a common herb available in Europe, Asia and also in North America. The red flower at the end of the plant is said to be the source of therapeutic substances that the plant contains. And right at this moment perhaps you are wondering, what therapeutic substances does it have and what kind of disorders does it cure?

Red clover is a plant rich in minerals such as calcium, chromium, magnesium, niacin, phosphorus, potassium, thiamine and at the same time it also contains vitamin C. In addition, this is rich in isoflavones, a chemical that has properties similar to that of the hormone estrogen. And with these nutrients now let's reveal the health benefits of red clover.

As this contain isoflavones, this plant is helpful to those women experiencing menopause as this has hormone-like substance which contributes in treating menopausal syndromes such as mood swings and hot flashes.
This plant also shows its potential to improve your cardiovascular health as it may help in increasing your good cholesterol levels, strengthen your arteries by making it more flexible and has a blood thinning property which reduces the possibility of blood clotting.
Another benefit especially women could gain in isoflavone is that it lowers the possibility to develop osteoporosis because as estrogen hormones decrease during menopause, this increases a woman's risk to osteoporosis thus this estrogen-like chemical will help the body to slow down bone loss.
This is also used to those who suffers cough as this can be used as a cough expectorant by helping expel phlegm from the body.
And also, studies show that it can also be helpful in preventing some types of cancer as it shows that it may stop the growth and spread of cancer cells.

These are only some of the significant benefits of red clover. And as studies still continue, expect that in the future, more benefits might be revealed that this plant could give to us. But of course, no matter how great an object is, this is not perfect. This does not provoke serious side effects but be careful as it may interact with certain substances when one is undergoing medication such as if one is taking an anticoagulant or birth control pills or when receiving hormone therapy. So if you are interested in the benefits of this plant but currently taking medicine or you're pregnant or breastfeeding, it is still best to consult your doctor to stay safe.

So do you still believe in the luck of the four-leaf clover or are you now more convinced with red clover's health benefits?
